Why We Had To Roll Out Ads on YourQuote?

We never thought this day would come. The day when we’d have to roll out ads on YourQuote to support ourselves, but the truth is often sad and right now, YQ doesn’t have enough choice. We are going through a tough time.

With little funds left in our bank account and our server costs skyrocketing with millions of posts being stored and relayed, we are in dire need to support ourselves financially. In this age of heavily funded and rapidly growing video platforms like Tik-Tok and others, the technology investors are a little skeptical to back a writing platform, despite our phenomenal growth in the past couple of years. We have been compelled to look for alternative ways to sustain, cut costs and keep growing. In the past, we had to cut down our team size from 36 to 24 for the same reason and very recently, we had to put our audio-video feature on hold and under maintenance as it was becoming too expensive for us as audio-video storage and production cost a lot more than the quotes.

Ads will support reduction in our costs for the time being, and we are sorry for the interruption in the experience that it might cause. We have launched a premium version of the app in the current update for those of us who wish to remove the ads and support YQ in our difficult times. The update has a breathtaking new feature called cinemagraphs, which lets your write on moving wallpapers. Don’t worry, no existing feature will ever be under a pay-wall! Running a technology platform is costly and needs a lot of funds, and we hope in the months to come, we garner enough support from you through either premium subscription or with ads to brave through this storm that we are going through.

While investors currently might not be convinced of the potential of YourQuote, our founders, the team and all of you ardently believe in how life-altering the power of writing is. Each of us has been touched by the love for words, and the warmth of a writing community here that eggs us to be ourselves, to be true to our innermost feelings, unlike on any other social platform. We hope to continue in our mission of making the world write and make you discover yourself through words.

Needless to say, we plan to remove the ads as soon as we have enough funds to sustain ourselves for the challenging years ahead. Hope our resilience and your faith in us help us sail through. We are sure investors sooner or later will find value in our work.
